Optimism and Stupidity
They say, it's a fine line between optimism and stupidity and I just keep crossing it ! Sometimes I wonder if being overly optimistic is just inanely stupid ! Any thoughts ?

Duh !
A colleague's birthday and everyone is wondering why my smiley on the birthday card is enclosed in brackets. Guess this is what happens when one spends too much time on orkut. Me and my orkut addiction. Duh ! Somebody please help me get over this !

Turning 25
One of my friends turns 25 today. I am so dreading the day I will be turning one. I know it's just a number but still can't help wondering if it's all downhill after 25.
Does/Did turning 25 give ya all any goosebumps or is it just me?

Shelfari spam
Lately I have been getting invites from friends to join Shelfari, the online community for book lovers. I decided to check this site and created a profile for myself. I added only five contacts to my list and can't believe they spammed everyone in my address book. I feel so stupid and just can't help thinking what the random people who received this invite from me must be wondering. Duh !
PS: Update : Googling reveals that it's not just me and there have been lotsa other victims to this shelfari spam. Folks, Beware !

Moving et al
It's now the packing up and moving on ( pun unintended ) time of the year for me.
When I moved to california last summer, I had with me precisely two big cases and four boxes. Now I am doing a move again, locally though and I just can't help noticing how much of a packrat I have become.
The number of boxes seem to have grown in multitude over the year and choosing what to keep and what not seems to be the toughest decision I need to make at this point of time in life!
Packing seems to be a pain. But unpacking sure does seem to excite me. I wish somebody would do the packing and moving for me and I could just get away with the unpacking ;-)
It's gonna be a chaotic and a fun filled weekend for me. I hope to catch up with ya all real soon.

The weeks that went by
Crazy work hours. Change from the routine. No blogging. Some blog hopping. New ventures. Some challenges. Some disappointments. New faces and farewells. Newer tasks. Some frustrating. Some demanding. Few surprises. Some cricket. Exciting and thrilling. Some not-so-happening plans. Some insights to the future.
Hoping the weeks to come will be a little less crazier :-)

Hmmm
After the last coupla posts, I have been getting calls/mails from friends/family checking to see if I am doing okay. I was a little surprised and infact overwhelmed by all your gestures. I did nt realize I was projecting this kind of an image about me to ya all.
So folks, just to let ya all know, I am doing great. Life is absolutely 'wonderful' as it has always been. Whatever I scribble here does nt always have to relate to me unless ofcourse I tag it with a 'self'. Thank ya all, for checking on me and keep visiting dushti.
Note to self : Start scribbling on lighter aspects of life and get off the 'serious' image !

I wish
I could go back to being 10, when life was much simpler and the only decision I ever had to make was whether to go to school or feign sickness.

Things I say a lot
The other day I was talking to a friend and realised how predictable my reactions have become. I thought about it and came up with this list of things I say more often.
When I am wowed
cooool, sooooper, awesome, samma, nice, wow
On an advising mode
freeya vidu, chill, forget it
At my sarcastic best
yeah right, very funny
With a tinge of envy
adapavi/adipavi, kalaku po
My most common reactions
apdiya? ille ? really? I know or God only knows!
In despair
kadavule, aandava, Oh my goddddd !
Swearing
you are so sick, damn
Other frequently used words
bore, vetti, timepass, banda, comedy, scene
And ofcourse a lot of ohs, aaahs, huhs, hmms and ahems when I have nothing much to say.
How predictable are you and how does your list look like?

High school nostalgia
I read this post recently and boy, I could nt help thinking about my high school days. Nothing could beat the excitement then of buying the freshly printed english text books and reading them much much before the school opened. I even remember, we had those silly moments between us friends as to who gets the books first and who finishes reading them all.
Well, the CBSE english syllabus was nt the best of its kind. However it did introduce me to a lot of good writing especially during those times when I had nt explored much beyond the Enid Blytons and Sidney Sheldons. I should say, I truly relished Anita Desai's close-to-the-soil writing style, Saki's black humor, Wilde's satire, O Henry's twists of plots, Emily Dickinson's poetry and many other writers' unique writing styles. Infact, most of the lessons that we had in our 8-12 standards are still fresh in my mind - Games at twilight, Lady at platform number 8, Kite maker,The gift of Magi, The importance of being Ernest, Mrs Packeltide's tiger, The last leaf, to name a few.
Do these stories ring a bell to any of you guys and do you have any such memories from high school?

Tagged
I have been tagged by Rads. The rules of the tag are:
1. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
2. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
3. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.
Here is my list.
1. I exhibit narcissistic tendencies. I love to see myself on the mirror every now and then and should say it has almost become an OCD now.
2. I am a sucker for Tea. A steaming hot cup of masala chai is all it takes to make my day. By the way, I detest coffee. Truly, madly, deeply !
3. I am a can-read-any-trash and can-watch-any-crap kind. Mind you, I can do that over and over again. Some of my friends have often wondered if I ever had that thing called 'taste' when it comes to books and movies! Sadly naah!
4. My earliest ambition in life was to become a cartoonist. I have always found them so cool. But for the life of me, I cannot draw/sketch/paint or do anything even remotely to do with the art stuff. So had to settle being an engineer.
5. I always start reading a magazine from the last page.
6. I suffer from PDC syndrome. Pathetically directionally challenged. Spin me around and I am lost !
7. When I was younger, I had always wished I turn eighteen soon. It felt so cool then. But now, I really wish I stop growing old. The only consolation inspite of growing old probably is that I don't look my age. A lot of people still ask me if I am fresh out of high school :-)
8. I am passionate about sleeping and I can sleep at the drop of a hat.
PS: Being the first tag, I guess I can do some breaking the rules and I skip the tagging other people part of the tag.
PPS: This is the longest post I have written so far ! Btw, another random fact about me, I always like to keep it short. Small is afterall beautiful :-)

Dushtism
First impression is nt always the best impression.
Sometimes it's okay to laugh at ourselves . Only sometimes.
You just cannot get some people out of your mind, however harder you try.
It's okay to like some people for no rhyme or reason.
Once bitten is twice shy.
It's perfectly alright to hate some people.
We cannot please everyone all the time.

Dushti peeves
People asking "How do you do" and not wanting/waiting to hear from you anything more than 'I am fine'.
Receiving chain mails and forwards that ask you to forward it to a hundred other people.
People talking too loud on their cell phones at work and in public places.
Finding long lost friends in orkut only to realise that they dont remember you now.
Hearing the good old songs perfectly butchered in the remix version.
People who put you on call waiting and conveniently forget about it.
Watching commercials/trailers in movie theatres.
Hearing people say PIN number, ATM machine, Chai tea....Can they get any more redundant?

All said and done
Now…I am here trying to indulge in yet another activity. I hope this does nt become one of my usual passing fancies. I have always enjoyed writing, though mostly it has been the ‘my dear diary’ stuff. Now I am taking a step ahead and entering the blog world. I have no clue how to go about this blogging. But hope to figure out soon. Until then will keep (s)crapping in this (s)crap book.
